Renowned Chinese Calligrapher to Display Work at the Asian-American Cultural Festival of LI March 29th

Flushing, NY – March 10, 2008 – Author and artist Lin Ying, a prominent member of the Queens Chinese-American community, will make a guest appearance at the Second Annual Asian-American Cultural Festival of Long Island on March 29th at the Wang Center at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY. Known for his unique brush stroke which is an expression of the spirit and feeling that pervades his artwork, Lin has mastered several calligraphic genres including large and small Seal script and official script. He was officially recognized in 2005 when the Zhu-Xi Ping-Shan Academy in Fujian, China carved one of his pieces onto its stone gates – a lasting tribute to his career as an artist.

Lin Ying and his wife Helen Ying, who will be conducting a paper cutting workshop, will be appearing during the afternoon program of the cultural festival, joining other visual and performing artists from China, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, India, and Korea. The program which runs from 1-6pm is free to attend. There will be raffle prizes, an Asian market, films, lectures and multi-cultural booth displays. All are welcome.
